Neustadt: the German imperial district (1871-1918)

This historical tour will cover the creation of the “New City”. After the Franco-Prussian War, the new German empire took the opportunity of rebuilding the city to give it an appearance worthy of its new status as a regional capital. Above all else, the urban plan of Neustadt was a political statement: the aim was to create a showcase for the empire, by building a sort of “Little Berlin” in Strasbourg.
